Rachel Beausoleil has been an Ottawa-based performer and recording artist since the days of the After Eight Jazz Club in the 90s, when she led the Latin jazz group Caoba. Other Canadian venues include the much-loved Café Paradiso, Molson Centre at Toronto’s Harbourfront, the Prime Minister’s residence, le Casino du Lac-Leamy, and Le Balcon in Montreal. 

 

In 2010, Rachel founded the Brazilian jazz group Sol da Capital, along with co-composer and guitarist Evandro Gracelli. Between 2012 and 2015, she performed in several jazz venues in and around São Paulo with Gracelli and friends. She toured the State of São Paulo with the Panamérica Canção project. She has also performed Brazilian music with Garry Elliott and Liz Hanson in Ottawa, as the Beausoleil Trio.

 

Rachel has performed with many vocal groups in both Ottawa and Montreal since the 1980s, including C’est What? a cappella sextet, The Juliet Singers, The Capital Voices, and Vox Eclectica Women’s Chamber choir, of which she was co-director from 2012-15. She conducted Elise Letourneau’s Requiem for Fourteen Roses in 2014, of which a live recording was produced.

 

Rachel has produced four CDs under her own name: a new Brazilian jazz album, Brazz, as well as Close to My Heart, with guitarist Roddy Ellias; The Dawning, with Yves Laroche and Tom Posner, and a children’s double album, Trille des voix.
